About us

Mes3D is a free, private 3D model viewer that runs entirely in your browser.

What Mes3D is

Mes3D is a free online viewer for 3D models. Open a file and it renders instantly in your browser — rotate, zoom and pan it, switch to preset views, measure distances, and read off dimensions, volume, surface area, estimated print weight, watertightness and overhangs. STL, OBJ, PLY, glTF, GLB, 3MF, FBX, DAE, 3DS, USDZ, AMF, STEP, 3DM, ABC, OFF and USD files are all detected automatically.

Opens files the way your tools save them

Models often arrive as more than one clean mesh, so Mes3D reads them as they come out of your slicer, CAD or 3D software:

  • 3MF projects from Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer open with every part in place, and colours stored in a 3MF are shown.
  • OBJ models show their MTL materials and textures, and glTF scenes load their .bin data, when you open them together with those files or as one ZIP.
  • If a file the model needs is missing, Mes3D names it. A 3MF that only holds sliced G-code is recognised, so you know to open the project file instead.
  • Rhino 3DM, Alembic (ABC), OFF and USD files open in the browser like any other format.

Your files stay on your device

There is no upload step, because there is no server to upload to. Every file is parsed and rendered by your own browser, so confidential models, client work and prototypes never leave your machine. That also means it works offline once the page has loaded.

Free, with no account

Viewing 3D models here is free — no sign-up, no subscription and no limits — and on a computer the measurement, analysis, snapshot and appearance tools are free too. We built Mes3D because checking a mesh before printing shouldn’t require installing desktop software.

On your phone, too

On a phone or tablet the browser handles viewing, rotating, zooming and dimensions, while the advanced tools live in the Mes3D app for iOS and Android: measuring, mesh analysis with wall-thickness and problem-area views, cross-sections, AR and snapshots. Both apps are free to download and some of their features are paid.

Edit and export in the app

The Mes3D app can also change a model before you print or share it:

  • Resize it to exact dimensions or by percentage, including a one-tap inch-to-millimetre fix.
  • Rotate it in 90° steps and cut it along a plane.
  • Set the unit a file was saved in, so every size and measurement reads correctly.
  • Export the result as STL, OBJ or 3MF (3MF keeps the colours), share it, or save it to your library as a copy — the original file is never overwritten.
